Contacts! Please Help

Hi everyone,

This may be a bit convoluted but I'll try my best to explain my situation and hope that someone can help me. I purchased a Droid 2 days ago and had the guy at the Verizon store import both the numbers from my old shitty LG phone and also sync it with my gmail account. I never managed by Gmail Contacts so obviously I had a bunch of random people in there that I would never want to call. I figured the best way to do this would be to manage my GMail contacts and then synch it with the updated list. Unfortunately I accidentally deleted all of my Gmail contacts.

At the moment, however, I still have over 900 contacts in my phone? I'm not sure where they are from because Gmail is still supposed to be synching with my phone. Is there a way I can export what I have on my phone to my Gmail account and start over? Is there an app that can help me manage my contacts on my Droid? I have absolutely no idea what to do and any help is much, much appreciated.

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure that contacts sync up and down. I've edited contacts in GMail on my computer and seen the changes on the phone, and I've also added contacts on my phone and been able to access them from GMail. I guess what I'm saying is that those 900 contacts on your phone (I would think) would re-sync back up to GMail. They didn't?

Regardless, if you go to your contact list and hit Menu > Import/Export, you can export the contacts to a file on your SD card and re-import them elsewhere if you need to. That might help you out.

Then you also have the option to only display contacts on your phone who have phone numbers. So if you have 900 something contacts, but most of them just have e-mail addresses, they won't show up in your phone contact list. Menu > Display Options from your contact list.

Hope this helps a litte.
