Contacts Question

Can anyone tell me how to get my contacts to allow me to organize my names by last name or by company name. I cannot figure it out on the phone and have also tried to do it in google contacts and cant do it there either.

Google's contacts don't have first name and last name fields, so it would just be guessing. What I did was actually edit all of my contacts to be "Smith, John" rather than "John Smith." Tedious, but the end result was worth it, I think. I think that there are maybe a couple of contact organizer apps out there, but I tried one and it didn't work right. I felt safer just doing it myself.
