Contacts ringtones

Hi! I have just purchased a new Samsung A01 core.
I set it up last night and while entering my contacts I found that the option is missing for assigning ringtones to individual contacts. The last option given in the edit is phonetic name.
I think it must be a fault. Or is there something I need to do to get that option? I have tried everything that I can think of.

Where are you looking for the option? I don't have a Samsung, but on my phone (running Android 11) the option is in the Contacts app but not the Phone app. And you don't access it by editing the contact (there's no field in the vcard for that) but via the 3 dot "context" menu when viewing the contact.

May be different on a Samsung (things often are), but I'm mainly saying this because I think I've had phones in the past where the option was in a different place (and easier to find), so it may be a matter of looking through both phone and contacts apps' options. If it's really missing you may be able to do something using a third party contacts app, but it will be trial and error (I have one alternative contacts app on my phone but it cannot set ringtones so would not help you).

Looking in the contacts as normal. I have a motorola G and the option for it is where you mentioned. But the 3 dot option on this only gives delete, link contacts, block contact or move it from phone. I even tried from the music ringtone in case it said assign to contact. The instructions actually show that it can be done on the edit part so I am convinced I have a dodgy model! Wishing I hadn't bothered with this damned thing but my husband has always liked samsung and it was the only one now under 6 inches in size. My god, even our old tiny flip phones had a facility for separate ringtones, this is like the dark ages again Not even found an app to do it yet either!

Sounds like we need someone with a recent Samsung to look into this.

(I'm with you on the size of phones. I'm not bothered so much by height as width, but there are so few phones < 70mm wide being released now that I genuinely do wonder whether I'll be driven away from Android in the next year or two by the size of the phones).

Yes, I agree. Was hoping somebody with samsung might help. I even wondered if different countries may have some specs disabled. When I first turned on the phone it was all in Russian and I live in Greece.
As for the sizes now, I can't think why they need to be so big. We have almost gone back to brick size. Dreading my 1st gen moto G dying on me!
