Help Contacts Saving and Editing

My phone is having problems saving and editing contacts. As far as I know, I don't have a lot of contacts, only 20, so I don't understand why it won't save new ones. And also, if I try to change the name of someone or change the number, that won't save either. This is becoming a problem as I have resorted to save the numbers and names onto a notepad app.
My phone hasn't exactly... worked a lot, as I have had various other problems regarding music and speakers, etc. But this problem is sort of recent so... yeah. I don't know if this is relevant but I did accidentally format my SD card recently, around the same time the problem but I just don't understand why it is doing this.
Please, if anybody has anything that could help me it would be deeply appreciated.

Log onto your gmail account via your PC and edit your contacts there. remember to change any numbers that are mobile numbers to type mobile.

Save your changes and fromm your phone sync them back to update your phone.

You willl also find edigin contacts via gmail account lets you ads additional items to your contacts such as their bithdays etc.

Had same problem. Factory reset sorted it out.
