I have been wanting to know the same things, does anyone know?
Funny enough i've been wanting to update my G1 from RC33 to the australian firmware as im annoyed by the phone number formatting in the american firmware.
As for updates with optus the only carrier selling the phones who knows they might wait for cupcake if it does come out in april and just release that on our phones altho i would of thought our firmware would be 99% the same as the UK one.
