When my parents signed my contract over 2 years ago data was optional.
Unfortunately the smartphone I had got washed.
So I've been using a dumbphone.
I've read that at&t occassionally detects even unlocked smartphones which are not at&t branded.
Could I get away without a data plan on an unlocked smartphone based on the grounds that my parents have never signed a contract saying I would pay for data on this particular line?
I've heard it argued up and down else where... but, (to me) it seems logical that they shouldn't be able to force me to get a data plan seeing as that was never in my contract..
