Contract up Feb 28, need advice

Tatan

Lurker
So I'm due for an upgrade on February 28th. I'm been suffering with a BB 8330 for years and I'm ready to jump into android. The question is this: Should I just go with the Droid and could the wait be short for the Nexus one to come to Verizon? I'll be honest and say hardware wise i prefer the nexus one but not if I have to wait 2 months for it. I need a new phone bad. Any advice or info is appreciated!

IMHO, I just upgraded to the Motorola b/c if you're always going to be waiting for the next new phone...you'll never buy one. Even if you wait to get the Nexus One, Motorola just confirmed that they are going to be working with Google to release the Nexus 2 later this year. I'm perfectly happy with my Droid; I wasn't that great with the qwerty at first, but have gotten used to it and am loving it now. You have to pull the trigger sometime.

Jamo +1

Jamo is right, you do need to pull the trigger sooner or later. If you like the physical QWERTY get the droid, if you don't, wait for the nexus. But newer and better will just keeeeep coming.

I don't particularly like the physical keyboard on the Droid, but I still find it useful and I use it much more than I thought I would. If someone was willing to hand me a Nexus for my Droid right now, I think I would keep my Droid. But, if a 4.3 inch Android comes to Verizon, I may jump on that....

While there is truth in what you say I'd beg to differ in this particular case. The choice should either be the Nexus One or Incredible depending on how you feel about Sense. My reasoning is that the jump between those 2 phones and the Droid is probably greater (600 mhz to 1ghz along with 512mb RAM) then something that will come along 6 months from now and the N1 or Incredible. The best thing after the N1/Incredible at best is going to be 1.5ghz and probably not for a year. If you want to future guard against that wait for the Incredible and get a 1 year contract.

u can buy a new phone every year at verizon, no need to pay more for a one year contract... unless u think u might want to bail on verizon...

i want the incredible/bravo whatever it'll be called... but man this blows waiting... and there has been zero info flow lately!

I'll be able to answer this question in exactly 30 days. MWC in Barcelona will happen before your upgrade date hits so it's pretty much impossible to guess what kind of news will come out of that conference. Plus, Feb 28 will be 23 days from the reported Verizon Nexus One availability, or just about 3 weeks. I'm guessing when you're ready to buy a phone, you'll probably have more info than right now so I wouldn't even bother asking for opinions quite yet. February should be interesting.
