Convert VOB to MP4

I understand that I need to convert VOB files to MP4 to play on my S2.

Can anyone recommend a converter; cheap if possible?

I'd like know. I tried converting a home recorded football game from VOB on Ubuntu with a built in converter.

MX player plays VOB, so I said to heck with it and shoved the football game on an SD card for an Acer tablet. Plays just fine.

I'd still like to convert to see if files would compress.
