Coolpad kaput

This Coolpad Canvas might be broken for good, or maybe it's just the battery. It's been charging erratically if at all. If it was plugged in all night, it shouldn't be on red. Now it won't come on at all. I would try it with a different charger, but it's hell getting that one to fit. Can I get a replacement battery, and how much would it cost? I have tried to add a picture of the battery just in case. Yes, I have tried different outlets and cleaned the inside of the phone, including the contacts and the battery. They look fine, golden and shiny. Since the picture thing apparently won't work, here are the battery stats: CPLD-415 Part#: BTR3636AB. 4.4V S/N: CPCC41517136005923. Li-polymer
2500 mah/3.85vdc 9.63 wh. Then there's a sort of backwards slanty RU with a circled R and under that MH49320. Then there's a 5 in a couple of round arrows.

Is your battery life generally OK as you use your phone every day or does it need to be charged a lot more frequently than it used to. You might be having an issue not caused by the battery. Of course for the price it might be worth trying a new battery just to eliminate if it is or isn't the problem. If a new battery solves your problem that's great, if it doesn't post more details about other issues you're having with your phone.

Hi, thanks, I tried a new charger, actually a separate wall wart and cord. At first it at least blinked red a little, but now it doesn't even do that. As I said, the battery looks fine, but thst diesn't mean it is. I would really hate losing Firefox or at least tabs and bookmarks. If I got the phone fixed, or got another one, would I be able to recover them?

I almost forgot to mention that I think I might have found the problem with fitting the charger. I was looking at the tip and where it goes in the phone, and I realized it must be upside down or backwards or something that way. The charger tip has one side that has this kind of thing that looks as if it's where the Frankenstein monster thing got sewn together, which I think is supposed to be the front, and then those two sort of sticks, one on the right and tbe other left, which is probably the back of it. Well I think they got the place where it goes turned around and Frank goes in the back with sticks in the front? I don't know how that happened but it could explain why it's been hard to plug in the charger. The wall end works fine.

Backing up your bookmarks could take some effort. I just rely on FIrefox Sync to keep my desktop and phone Firefox app coordinated.

But if don't have anything else to sync up with, you might want to try installing this add-on, https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/android/addon/export-bookmarks/versions/
and then email the resulting file to yourself so it's also saved in your emails.

If you look closely at the end of USB plug itself you'll notice it is squared off on one edge and tapered diagonally on the opposite edge. If you then look closely at the USB port you'll see that it has a corresponding shape with one edge squared off and the opposite tapered accordingly. The plug can only go into the port one-way. That's actually been a point of contention for a long time with micro-USB as it does require one to always make sure the orientation is correct when plugging in a cable. The newer USB Type-C protocol took care of that irritation it no longer matters if the plug end is facing one way or the other.

That's a little vague, if the phone is not working as in it won't turn on than you won't be able to retrieve anything off of it. If by 'not working' you're just referring to not having any Internet access than if the issue is you don't have WiFi at home go to a friend who does, or use a public WiFi service from any nearby source (i.e. library, restaurant, community center, etc.).
Or just save things to your phone and copy them to a microSD card.

The phone isn't working at all. I have saved as much as I could to the sd card, which I removed. I"m not sure if Firefox things would be on it. Maybe if I ever got another phone I could set it up the way I had it.

I checked out the replacement battery, which is 3.7 v. The original is 3.85. Would the replacement work just as well? At least the price is better. The batteries I've been looking at are $39.99 + tax.

Edit -- Forgot to add, It isn't a good idea to buy any replacement battery that doesn't match the original battery voltage. They are not interchangeable in that aspect. If you do, keep a fire extinguisher handy as that's a generally a risky thing to do.

That's the weird thing. Why would Coolpad themselves sell a battery that's not compatible with their own device? Maybe it's a ploy to sell more phones.

Coolpad makes various models and they outsource the actual manufacturing so specs could vary slightly even from batch to batch within the same model.

Why are you making the assumption a replacement battery Coolpad is selling for its own model is not compatible?

I am making that assumption because the battery they are selling is 3.7 v and the original is 3.85. I'm not sure that's a big difference but I'm not an electrician. Maybe they would be compatible.
