Help Copy all folders from internal memory onto new phone?

Hi everyone...

My S3 screen is shot, so I can't access the phone (touch screen does not recognize touch or display anything). A new phone is coming, and I will connect the video of the new phone to the old phone so I can get access to the internal drive.

I did not root the phone or did a proper backup.

My question: Can I copy all the files from the phone directory off of the old phone and just drop them into the folder structure of the new phone (after I re-download all the apps onto the new phone)? Will this accomplish anything?

Yes, it will probably brick the phone.

You can copy application data after you install the apps, but that probably won't work with some apps.

In the future remember - anything you don't have backed up is something you don't need.

I'm assuming flat files like photos or music can be copied and dumped into the new folder structure without it being bricked?

I was mainly seeing if I re-download all the apps, why dumping the folder structure of some apps from the old phone into the new one would brick it (e.g. the folders from GoLauncher, or my grocery store app which I'm assuming has some files that keep the list).

I know I know...bad on my part about backing up. But I do have 99% of my photos on Dropbox and all my contacts are in Google. On a non-rooted phone, that's all the backup seem to backup anyway.

thanks Rukbat

I'm not sure I understand how you're going to see the screen if it's broken. But copying music and pictures is normally easy just plug the phone into your computer. As far as app data the easiest way to do it is both phones should be rooted and then you'll want to use something like titanium backup.

Just connected the video ribbon cable of the new phone to the old phone on the motherboard :D...
If you're comfortable working with microelectronics, NP, but I've seen people do something simple like that and end up with a repair bill for more than the retail price of the phone. (Damage the connector on the MB, for instance, and you're in for at least a new MB - most of them are too fragile to be repaired when you rip off a couple of lands.)
