Copy photos to G1 - use as attachment

I have managed to copy photos onto my G1 phone. But when I write a new email or MMS and want to attach a photo it says no photos found.

Do I need to copy them in a certain directory?

(I copied them to my G1 memory card)

Any help highly appreciated.

Is your phone still plugged into the computer? The sd card can only be read by one device at a time. If you are still mounted to the sd card on the pc the phone will not see it. Just unplug the phone and try again.
