Corporate Email / Android Version

Hey all, I am sure the answer is simple. I have a droid pro (android 2.3.4) In order for me to get corporate email on my phone I need android 3.0 and higher. I was told by a friend that I could wipe out my phone and start over with Jellybean and I would be fine. I can not upgrade my phone until March 2013.

1. Is this correct?
2. How?

There is no official update for the Droid Pro beyond Gingerbread 2.3.4. Have you considered trying one of the Android mail apps...such as K-9...from the Play store to see if it has the capabilities you need?
