Corrupted files on SD Card

Transfer my website to the external SD card on my phone but when I click on Index.htm it fails because the link cannot find c:Win7...appdata.... filename. So somehow the link has been corrupted. If I copy the file back to my PC it works fine. Also if I cannot right click on the SD card file name it doesn't give me any information. Is this a USB problem with the PC or something else? Didn't happen on my old Huawei Y550.
thanks
JW

That's the thing, the index.htm file refers to a file in the website directory, e.g./test.htm, so why it's suddenly referring to my Cdrive I have no idea. Wierd

Any microSD card is going to be at best an 'average' storage media, assuming you're using your card as a backup it's just not reliable enough to be used as an archive media.
When your card is set up as external (portable) than it's going to using either a FAT32 or exFAT file system, the issue being FAT, and all its variations, is very outdated with inherent stability issues, limited file/folder attribute support, and limited file metadata support. It's not surprising if there are link problems, odds are there are fundamental issues involved on a file system level.

Thanks for the replies, even if I transfered the html and images I had problems. Solved it by downloading a file explorer app that allows me to open the files with Firefox, the Firefox app doesn't allow you to open local files

..... the Firefox app doesn't allow you to open local files
YMMV but try this. Type in:
file:///
in Firefox's address bar. If it works it'll be a work-around to open local files. (Or if you know the exact directory path to the file you want to open just add it after that third slash.) It's not the most elegant way to navigate through your phone though, I think you're better off using an actual file manager app that. But again, it may or may not even work. I can do this with a KitKat phone but not on a Nougat phone. Also, (depending on which version of Android you're using), go into your Settings >> Apps and open up the Firefox app. Open up 'Permission's and check that 'Storage' is enabled.

Thanks, it seems the later versions of Android behave very differently to the older ones, I have now used a file manager that puts a shortcut onto Firefox which does the job.
