Cost to use GPS...

I plan to upgrade my LG Dare to a HTC Thunderbolt. I was planning on getting the $30 unlimited data plan, and I was wondering if this included GPS. Am I allowed to use the GPS without paying extra? Thanks!

google maps, and google nav are free
some other programs as well

but verizons nav program is 9.99 a month
snd there are some other gps programs that cahrge
use the free ones and your ok

Google navigation has yet to fail me.

Google maps and Nav are very good. Especially considering it's free. However, you must have a cellular phone connection to use it as the maps are stored online and downloaded as needed. I use a paid app called CoPilot Live where the maps are stored on the SD card in the phone so you always have them. It is excellent and gives you more customization of how you want your routeings. I especially like the driver safety display choice that gives very large visual directions on screen. Also has excellent voice turn by turn direction. It works even in areas when no cellular service is available.

The maps are downloaded by google at the start of your trip though, so long as you have service at the start of every trip you can at least get where you planned to go. If you stray off the route though you will have to find your way back on. Thankfully since verizon covers so much of the USA I doubt this is even an issue unless you're in the middle of nowhere in which case I'd assume you're driving straight on a highway, and even then most of those are covered by either verizon or sprint who you can roam onto.
