Could Bada OS rival Android in the future?

Samsung is reportedly shipping out their Bada OS on most of their devices for the 2010 calendar year. Right off the back it seems to incorporate all of the latest technology that we the consumer thrives for like multitouch, Flash, 3D gaming and social networking integration. The application store looks like a work in progress but with the right marketing and developers on board, could this possibly rival the new Juggernaut that is Android?

Sneak peek at Bada in action ....

YouTube - Samsung Bada OS

If anything this at least gives us a wider array of operating systems to choose from.

Its all about power and market reach, which samsung has little of, except with hardware. Google dominates so many spaces it is the only reasd they can compete against symbian, iphone and even winmo. Sansumg isn't going to move in any where, except perhaps korea. They dominance lies with cheap phones in the cdma market. (Flip/dope phones)

Did you see what they did with the Omnia II? The UI they stuck over WinMo is utter garbage. If that's any indication of their OS design capabilities, I don't think Bada is going anywhere soon.

Incorporate Flash? Android better get on the boat and standardize it across all Android OS before this Bada OS comes to fruition.

I believe bada is a work in progress and I have faith in Samsung's abilities I have created a forum for bada in hopes to get more discussion going on this. check it out: badaforums.net

The whole appeal to Android is that it runs on tons phones for all the carriers. What Samsung is doing is basically creating their own iPhone. Granted they would have more models to choose from, but I can hardly see Motorola stepping up and offering a phone with a Samsung OS. (whether the plan is to make Bada available outside of Samsung, I don't know, but still..)

meh... You know how I feel Shawn, LOL. Samsung, just another FAIL going somewhere to happen!

At least until they address the problems with SB2 not getting updates!

Bada might make it in underdeveloped countries. But the playing field is already maxxed for a player who's entry has no "wow" factors. But maybe that is their plan...perhaps this OS is directed at a specific demographic - If they market it specifically to Asia, with Asia-specific features (or any other Continent) it might fly. Other than that, it has the ring of BetaMax to it.

all this does is fragment the market even more... it's already the bane of Android's existence... some with Sense, some without, some with Moto Blur, all sorts of resolutions but with improper scaling (ie an app written for a G1 or Hero look like $H!T on a Nexus or Droid)....

and talk about a silly name... "Bada"? WTF??? Bada-Bing? lol :p
