Root Could use some help.

Hey I'm new to the forums, been trying to root and install 4.2.2 on my lg spectrum (running ics 4.0.4) with cm10.1.
I used a thread on this site to root it, everything was going fine. I was following a guide online on how to install cm10.1 and had the files downloaded and on my phones sd card, turned the phone off after unplugging and tried to put it into recovery mode by holding down volume down and power button, which took me to factory hard reset mode. at this screen the guide told me to press power 3 times, so I did and it just erased all my data and didn't take me to clockwork mod as the guide said it should have, because the root I used in that given link said it installed cwm as well as rooting it.
So, I am stuck.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks much.

Run through the tool again. If it didn't boot cwm at that point it didn't install.

Sent from my VS920 4G using Tapatalk 2

by the tool, you mean run the root program (bootloader_pwn) again?

edit: ran the root program again, followed the steps and it booted to recovery mode. backing up right now, says "done freeing space." and now it says "scrapbook"

I'm having a similar problem. I have run the tool a couple of times but can't seem to get the Spectrum to boot into CWM recovery. When a hold down the Vol- button and power to start the phone I get an option to reset to factory only.

The following is what I see when I run the tool.

Did you press power button at the factory reset screen? You still have to go thru that to get to CWM when you use the buttons.

Get Android Terminal Emulator from the play store.

Open it up. Type "su" without quotes, and hit enter. It should prompt you to allow it root access. Type "reboot recovery".

If you don't want to do that.... You can use the adb that came with the pwnage tool.
With your phone connected to your computer:

Start > Run > "cmd"
cd "C:\Path\to\your\SpectrumPwnageTool\Bootloader" (enclose in "" to avoid problems with spaces)
adb devices (it should list a device)
adb reboot recovery

You can see from your paste that it pushed all the images to the phone and flashed them all successfully, so there should be no reason that you can't boot recovery.

If you have CWM installed you will still get the factory reset warning screen, but after you push power twice to confirm it loads CWM instead of factory reset.

Yoinx's method is a little more comforting tho...

Thanks to you both! I got into recovery using the Terminal method!

The terminal method is essentially the same as hitting the power button and choosing to reboot to recovery. It bypasses that warning screen.

The thing with the power + vol down button is that it is a force boot. You'll always have to click through that warning. I'm guessing that it's part of a prom somewhere in the phone that enables that hardware button combo, which is why it doesn't pop up doing the command methods to reboot recovery.

Thanks to you I installed CM 10.1 RC 2 on the Spectrum. It is such an improvement over stock ICS! I have the main Gapps on the device. Does GooglNow work with CM 10.1? Where do I download it? Is there anything else I should do as part of initial setup? Thanks again for all your help.

You should already have it, it's just called Google Search now.
