Coverage Question

I am wondering if anyone has the correct coverage map for the upcoming switch to 4G WiMax. I am playing with the idea of getting the EVO 3D (VM model) but I don't want the same crap coverage I have now. If anyone knows which coverage map it is I'd greatly appreciate it!

I used Sprint's coverage map to see if I might be able to get 4g but sadly no:(, so I suggest using Sprint's to check

Yeah I saw that I wouldn't be covered with the 4G but with the upcoming switch would normal coverage get any better then it is now?

According to the HTC site where the info is for the Evo 3D, it says the phone can do 3G and 4G. Do you think they will force those who want the Evo to pay for 4G, or do you think we will be given a choice with this phone? I seldom need Internet access on my phone, so 3G would suit me just peachy.

That was more what I was looking for in fact:D Still unsure about where 4G will be headed next but that's a question only the uppers know

Edit: Here are Sprints current tower locations(i believe): Sprint Towers in New York, NY - CellReception.com

That's all there towers. Both 3g and 4g towers. Sprint's site is where you are gonna be able to find out if you have 4g coverage or not. I highly doubt they will make more 4g WiMAX towers since Sprint is moving onto LTE...

From what I understand, there is an existing contract for WiMax towers that must be completed and once that is done the WiMax expansion is done. Where those are though, I'm not sure.

Here is the best resource. This shows all the WiMax coverage. It's the same for sprint as it is for clear.

I live in OKC and we only have 4 towers (if you count Norman which really you can't). I do have one somewhat close to my house, but not close enough to get coverage. Basically you only get WiMax here if you go to the mall. I think I'm just going to save up my pennies for the Galaxy Nexus and switch to TM.

I'm on the fence. Last night I convinced myself I was gonna get a GalNex but today I decided I want to get the Evo V lol. I know we get good WiMax coverage cause one if my supervisors has a Evo 3D and he said coverage is excellent with ridiculously fast speeds.

I believe I will be staying on the VM side of the fence so I don't miss out on the EVO V :D Everything I have found makes me believe that VM will do just fine coverage wise.

When I search for my address and it says "Sorry, Clear is not yet available at this location", does this mean that 4G service is not available in my area or does it just mean that Clear.com doesn't have any information about my area yet?

Pretty sure it's clearwire.com

If that's the case, there just may be hope for me yet.

When I search Sprint's 3G coverage map, it says there is a tower right in my home town. Would the same tower provide 4G coverage as well?

no. On sprint's coverage maps you should be able to choose between voice, 3g, and 4g coverage though. 3g and 4g towers are different.

Thanks, but ouch, it's not looking so good for me. My zip code is 02453 and there doesn't appear to be much 4G coverage at all in my area. This is so disappointing. I've been waiting for the Evo but knowing that I can't use 4G is a big drawback.
