Help Creating a home screen shortcut to excel sheet

I know this question has been asked before, but I couldn't find a recent answer.

How exactly can I put a shortcut straight to an excel sheet on my home screen? I have a custom calendar built in my excel sheet and I want to have it easy to access.

What app are you using for viewing/editing the Excel sheet on your phone/tablet?

A great application for this task is Estrongs File Explorer.

ES File Explorer

It let's you create a shortcut on your desktop from any file on your device. Simply open the file explorer, locate the file, long press (press and hold) it and select 'add to desktop'
