Help Creating home screen icons from contacts

jpwright45

Lurker
On my LG phone, I was able to create icons on a home screen that allowed one-touch calling or one-touch texting to a contact. Apparently, AT&T chat reps don't know much about the A9. They keep directing me to do things this phone won't do. Anyone know how to accomplish what I'm trying to do?

If you haven't figured it out yet here is how to do it.
Long press on the home screen, Personalize box should pop up.
Select "add apps and widgets"
Select "Shortcuts" from the dropped down menu on the center left.
Select "Direct Dial" from the list.
Then select your contact.

Thank you very much. After long and frustrating chats with AT&T and HTC, I found that they didn't know how to do this. The A9, I think, was too new for them. I fumbled my way to a less satisfactory setup, but now I've redone it using your instructions. Thanks again!

Glad to be of help. First thing I do when I get a new phone is to make one for my wife. But I have to move it around the screen so as not to wear out one spot.
