Root Cricket Indulge semi-bricked? Internal SD not recognized!

Just finished rooting my Indulge SCH-R915 (from Cricket), using the method described here: theunlockr.com/2012/05/18/how-to-root-and-install-clockworkmod-recovery-on-the-samsung-galaxy-indulge-r910-and-r915-one-click-method/
And now, it's as though the built-in internal SD storage is GONE! Astro File Manager previously reported the internal SD as "My Files 1" ( /mnt/sdcard ) and the external as "My Files 2" ( /mnt/sdcard1 ). It no longer sees the internal SD at all, and reports the external SD as "My Files 1" ( /mnt/sdcard ).
I unrooted the phone, in the hopes that the internal SD would be restored, but storage-wise, it behaves identically to when it was rooted, seeing the external SD as "My Files 1" ( /mnt/sdcard ), and no internal SD.

The phone itself still works just fine, it just doesn't recognize any built-in sdcard storage. Did my rooting the phone destroy its ability to recognize the built-in sdcard, or somehow consolidate it with the built-in ROM storage area? Or did the built-in sdcard simply get un-mounted, and I need some special app or something, to re-mount it?

Somebody PLEASE help me!!!

If it was me, I would backup everything, then go into CWM and wipe cache and wipe dalvik, then reboot. Still doesn't work after that, I would go back into CWM and factory restore. Maybe it has renamed your internal storage and it's not reading your external card? If you go into settings in storage, how much space does it say is on your cards?

Don't trust astro, it could be giving you false readings. Check your storage cards in settings first before wiping anything.

I tried to do a backup via CWM recovery mode, but even THAT doesn't recognize the internal storage. I'm currently just backing everything up the hard way, copy-pasting to the SD card.
I've rebooted several times, with no change. The fact that CWM doesn't recognize the internal storage makes me think that maybe it HAS renamed it, but it's definitely reading the external card because when the external card isn't present, it doesn't have ANY "sdcard" entry, but when it's there, it shows as "sdcard" instead of "sdcard1".
In the settings under "Internal phone storage" it shows "Available space" at 1.19GB, with no other entries. When the SD card isn't there, it shows "", and when it is (with an 8GB card), it shows "Total space" at 7.40GB, "Available space" at 7.37 (currently), and lists options to "Unmount SD card", but "Format SD card" is greyed out. It doesn't have any section for Internal SD card.
In any case, since I'm switching phones, my whole reason for rooting was to be able to copy as much data over to my new phone as possible, mainly stuff that various apps store in root-protected areas. Incidentally, after rooting, at least Astro doesn't even show there BEING a folder called "Root" any more. Since Astro apparently gives false readings, is there another file manager you'd suggest, that's more accuarate?

Sounds like something is up with your internal card, and you know what that means. You could try a program called Root Explorer. I use both Astro and Root Explorer, never had a problem with either one. If your card still doesn't show up, I would say that phone is pretty much done. Once you get as much info as you can off of it, you could try to restore it back to 2.2.1. There's a sticky for it in this forum.

It actually still has 2.2.1 on it. I never updated from Samsung, nor did I ever install a custom rom.

I suppose you have nothing to lose (as far as files) if you were to use the Odin thread to restore. Sounds like you tried everything. If you can't access the internal drive through root explorer or through CMW, you could run this and try to get your internal card working this way:

[R910/R915] THE ODIN THREAD: Return to stock | Now with R915 files!

You will lose root and recovery but you don't have much choice anyways. If you can't access your internal card after all that, the phone is toast.

I honestly halfway suspect that rooting it somehow merged the internal SD with the root/ROM area storage, since it's still reporting 1.18GB available, under "Internal phone storage". I'm pretty sure that it listed the built-in storage as "Internal SD card" before, though I could be wrong. I'm just not sure what I had stored in the \mnt\sdcard folder, before. Nothing on the phone seems to have lost functionality, other than CWM not being able to back up to either an internal or external sdcard.

Anyway, I'm going to try backing it up by just copying everything onto the external sdcard, the old-fashioned way. Does any PC-based application allow you to copy from the phone's root area or "internal phone storage" that isn't the "internal sdcard"?

If I want to copy many things from the root folder using the PC, i always use Android Commander, of course you must be rooted to use it. It's picky about some rooted phones but worth a shot!
