cricket vs VM

I am weighing the pros and cons of Cricket vs VM.

Phone in question: LG Optimus C/V

Pros for Cricket:

$170 for the phone + $50 mail-in rebate.
Tethering
Phone insurance.

Cons for Cricket:

1GB cap
ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE COVERAGE.
$55/mo + tax and additional fees.
Proprietary SD Card malfunctions

Pros for VM:

Better coverage.
10GB cap
$27/mo (after applying taxes and additional fees.)

Cons for VM:

$200 for the phone.
No tethering
No phone insurance

In other peoples opinions, which is better? I dislike Cricket's service enough to want VM, but tethering and insurance are enough to make me REALLY second guess myself.

Virgin does offer insurance for $5 a month, at least I think that is the price. And you can tether with the Quick Settings app. Just watch how much you download so they don't flag you for tethering.

Hi
if you go with any of the custom roms, you can tether, wireless or wired.

i dropped verizon last week, and have been working with a VIRGIN mobile, and so far i am pretty happy. (south jersey area) but i drove up to manhattan, and also down the washington dc . virginia area, coverage is good.

I havent heard anything good about cricket.

To use Quick Settings to tether you don't have to be rooted. I tested it with my laptop and my wife's Kindle before I rooted. It worked fine, just keep your phone plugged in, it drains your battery fast as it uses the WIFI and 3g at the same time.
