Cruise and Internet

I am going on a cruise mid august and need to have access to the internet for business. What is the best option for the most affordable internet access?

ship's wifi is all you got....you are a "locked market"

i dont think satellite service is cheaper.

I would think that you are going to need to use whatever the cruise-ship offers.

Yup, and if one is on an ocean cruise. It's going to be satellite internet, maybe 2Mbit shared for the whole ship, ping times typically >750mS. Slow and quite expensive. OK for email, IM and basic browsing, forget anything fancy like Youtube.

Cunard Line
Fees & Equipment: On QM2, basic Internet charges will run you 50 cents per minute; a variety of package rates including $13.50 for half an hour and $167.95 for eight hours.

Wow!!! Facebook has suddenly become extremely expensive. I guess if one can afford a QM2 cruise, this is small change.
