Help Ctrl-Alt-Del in Android

What is Alt-Shift-Del? (Hard keyboard only as far as I know.) Someone in another thread found this by accident. It's a great way to reboot a D2G phone without going through the power off or removing the battery. What I don't know, and I hope someone will post here, is does it work if you have a mis-behaving app that keeps you from doing the power off routine?

Great. I've been holding off getting a protective cover like my wife's because it makes removing the battery more difficult. But her cover means I need to use the adapter in the car dock in her car, which is also a pain to remove when I'm done.
