Currently android 4.4 does not allow 3rd party applications to make modifications to external SD car

Wow! This is annoying. I have been transferring files from my network somewhere to a folder on my external SD card for a long time now on my previous phone - Jelly Bean.
Is there a safe work-a-round for this? [I am rooted]f

EDIT: I noticed this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.geeksoft.extcardpatch&hl=en, but am not sure what the results have been among those who have tested it?

How are we to tell what is best or most up-to-date? I chose #2 and it seems to work fine [for now]. I would love to hear some feedback from other users who have dealt with this?

The app SDFix has worked great in the all the Kitkat(3) devices I've rooted.

Thx. This [EDIT2 in my above post] is what I decided on. It just changes/modifies some permissions.

Which of the three methods did you use? The "HandleExternalStorage" for Xposed seems interesting?
