custom OS questions

I have a Galaxy Ace 5830d stock phone. I'm giving serious consideration to rooting it and flashing a custom OS. I've done lots and lots of research on the process and pros and cons, but there's a few questions I can't find answers to, and I'm hoping someone here might be able to help me.

(1) I have Kaspersky and LastPass installed on my phone. I'm not sure if they'll work with a custom ROM, does anyone know?

(2) I see the CyanogenMod mentioned lots. There are mentions of the Ace being upgradeable to the Jelly Bean CM OS (10.1) . But then I look at this wiki page, List of devices supported by CyanogenMod - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, that only 7.2.0 is available for the Ace. i just want to make sure I use the right one for my 5830d and I don't create a brick.

(3) I only have a 4GB sd card in my phone. Is a custom ROM similar in size to the original OS? So that when I flash it, there'll be sufficient space, or does it need to run off the SD card?

I appreciate your help. Thanks.

1. Both of these are apps and they don't require root, neither do they seem dependent on the OS, so i don't see why they should have any trouble running on a custom rom. Custom rom is not an alien thing, its the same android you are running, the only difference is that samsung did not make it, samsung takes the source code from google and tweek its looks and adds its own apps and features, the custom rom developer does the same thing, but only better, he does not add useless apps and features and in fact improves some of the short comings of the stock system, but otherwise its still the same android OS built for ACE.

2. There are 2 ways a device can get cyanogenmod, first is that the cyanogenmod officially supports the device and makes the rom for that device, but in cases when the device is old and they know that making a rom for that device will be quite difficult and it will not perform to the CM standards then they don't support the device, hence the ACE got only CM 7.2 which is based on gingerbread. But as far as 4.0+ is concerned we don't have official support, but since android and CM are both open source, anyone can take their source and build the CM, its unofficial of course but its still a working CM, sure some features might not work very well and some not at all but that's because this is a 2 year old device and the new 4.0 requires a more powerful hardware to run its full speed, people work hard and try to make it run as good as possible, so we do got CM 10.1, i.e android 4.2.2 JB. I am currently running aokp that is based on 4.2.2.

3. Your sd card has nothing to do with the rom you are running until unless its a specific rom that requires you to have an ext partition on your card so as to increas the internal memory, most rom devs give that optional, only in rare cases is that a compulsory neccessity but otherwise you should not be concerned about the sd card size when you want to flash a new rom.

I would like to point out that your ace model is S5830d, now i don't know much about it and as much as i have read its mostly similar to the S5830 but i read people having problems rooting it because of the 'd' version, so i don't know if that means any problems on flashing roms or such, just confirm with the developer that the rom is compatible with the 'd' version.
