Help custom ringtone

How do I select a custom ringtone for a contact? Does it need to be placed in a certain place on the phone for it to show up on the ringtone screen?

figured it out. Had to download a file manager and used that to create a directory called "ringtones" in the root directory. Just place the ringtones there and they show up in the list of ringtones to select.
