Root Custom Rom advice for XT1039 (Peregrine)

Hi,

I would be grateful for advice from anyone that has experimented with any of the custom Roms for this phone.

I found a recent article that suggests that the four best Roms at the moment are CyanogenMod, CarbonMod, Paranoid Android and SlimKat.

I experimented with CyanogenMod and was not completely happy - increased battery usage and noticeable lag at times.

Has anyone had any experience with any of the others?

Ideally, I am looking for maximum fluidity and battery life over how pretty things look.

Any advice would be much appreciated.
