Custom Splash Screen

I have found several threads on making and flashing custom splash screens onto phones, however, none of them seem to work for my tiny, low-res screen. Is there anyonw out there who has figured this out?

well, ive been working on this for hours. they keep coming up distorted. im still working on it tho! ill post results as i make progress.

well, im still working on this. been trying to include a custom splash in my rom, but still havent quite figured it out yet. the method i am using is decompiling the boot.img file from my rom via kitchen (ubuntu), and replacing the initlogo.rle file with my custom splash file, and then rebuilding the boot.img. i created the custom splash (240x320) in photoshop cs3, and saved it as a 24 bit png file with transparency enabled. then i converted the png to rle using png-to-rle tool. flashed the rom, still distorted. im still trying to figure this all out tho. one interesting thing i noticed... i converted the stock initlogo.rle to png using rle-to-png tool. i was left with 2 png files instead of 1. one png was just a black background, and the other png was a black background with the "Hello" image all distorted in the same way that my custom splash displayed on my phone. very interesting... anyone else have any ideas on this? been researching, but havent come across info specific to this problem!

It has been a while since i have been on here. I appreciate all of the time you are putting into this. I wish i knew and understood more about the partitioning and file systems on these so i could help

well, im just working on the regular splash. im not gonna try to touch the recovery's splash. you dont need to kno about partitioning to play with this. all you need is to download dsixda's android kitcken, load your rom into the kitchen and make a working folder with it, find the option for the boot extraction tools, and use the "w" option to decompile. go to "boot-extracted" folder and look for initlogo.rle. this is our splash file. after replacing the initlogo.rle, go back into kitchen and rebuild using "b" option. exit out of boot tools with "x", and create your new rom zip with option 99. new rom will be in output-zip folder. the new splash should flash with the rom. im not sure on how to make a flashable zip to replace only the splash without flashing the rom, but im sure its easy. ive seen pleanty of tools for that in my research. my problem is that the image comes out distorted everytime i flash! i know its just some sort of setting to do with creating the custom initlogo.rle, i just havent figured out which imaging setting is causing it. im still researching and trying tho! trial and error. i actually had problems with images scrambling the same exact way when i tried to use ANY screenshot app on the venture. the images came out distorted in the same way every time! the only way i got successful screenshots was to hook up to my pc and use sdk tools for a screenshot. im sure ill find out what im doing wrong, or ill find some sort of workaround for the splash, its just a matter of when. if anyone out there is knowledgable on this error, please help, as i can not find any specific info on this problem.

so after a couple months of tearing apart the android system to find how to work around this problem, i finally figured it out. check the all things root subforum. ive released a modified batch to get u that custom splash! enjoy!
