I am looking to see if it is possible to customize Android manually without root. For instance, rather than downloading an app to change an icon (ie Bettercut), is it possible to just put an applications' icon on and somehow make a script that will overwrite the original icon with the icon on the sd card, or something to that effect. I don't know if any of you are familiar with Winterboard for the stupid iPhone/iPod Touch, but there are ways to customize the ui both with that app and without. I just want to know if it is possible to do the same kind of stuff for Android. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Even if it is just posting alternative ways to customize without using apps.
