Root D321 Stuck in fastboot, download mode security error HELP

aaron713

Newbie
I have replaced the laf.img with the original one to boot in original download mode but i get the following:
Secure booting error!
cause: boot certificate verify

then it goes to a black screen and opens Image and Verinfo folders on my pc.

Please help, I need to flash original kdz file with the flash tool but i can't get the phone into download mode.
It boots into fastboot. i can give it commands but no adb.

Any help is appreciated

also wiping the data/cache in recovery doesnt help.

Yeah your basically screwed because theirs no kdz file their was but now its gone you can't even find it through google I had the file on my computer but deleted it or else I would give it to you. The same happen to me, do you have Cricket? you could sent it to them for a replacement that's your best bet. What you did was brick your phone.

thanks for the reply. Yeah i figured i was screwed, I have the KDZ file but I just get a secure booting error no matter what now.
Hopefully they honor the warranty exchange. I called Cricket they are mailing a shipping label and then I send it in.

Yup they're suppose to email you the shipping label.

They gave me that option but i don't have access to a printer. Will they print it out for me at the UPS store? Im sure I could call and get it emailed still.

Hey, I know it's a long shot, but you should try this: since you can load into fastboot, please try to unpack kdz file with this tool

When you unpack kdz and dz files, it should give you separate partitions as files, among others laf partition which is 15mb in size as opposed to your backed up which is 22mb in size. Rename it to laf.img or whatever the extension is. Copy it to the folder where fastboot is. Now, in fastboot type "fastboot flash laf laf.img". Hopefully, this will provide you with working download mode and from there on you will be able to flash stock rom.

If after flash your phone bootloops, go into adb, and in between bootloops type:

adb shell
adb reboot recovery

When recovery loads, delete data and cache.. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply, im waiting on a warranty replacement from Cricket.
But i did try extracting the KDZ file I had and flashed the original laf.img but I still got the secure booting error.. I lost fast boot and it went directly to a black screen after I got impatient and stupidly flashed a backup rom in recovery.. WRONG model number... oh well hopefully i'll be receiving another phone in the next few days.

is LG the only company to use a bootlock? i told myself after this phone i will never buy an LG again, i've bricked this phone twice, I've never had any of these problems with a Samsung. I will root the replacement, only to take advantage of link2SD and the second partion on my SD, which I think you MUST do with the l70, with its joke of a internal memory...

Im gonna root my D321 soon, assuming I can with 10c software.....

Do I need a PC for the KDZ file?

Not really. If you're going to do some custom stuff on your phone, you really need a computer.

Not looking for major overhaul. Just wanna open some space, and gain some PRIVACY, maybe improve some functionality.

Im just confused on the process of backing up my phone. I have a stock backupApp..... why is this no good compared to flashes, ect?
