Help Dalvik cache

Dear all,

I updated my s4 mini from cm11 to cm12! Everything works fine from start, but then the programs are beginning to open slowly. ( facebook 7-8 sec, Quickpic 5-6, camera app 7-8). I read that it is possible that when i install big amount of apps ( 30) one after another, something can mess up and the Dalvik Cache must be cleared in order to fix the issue! My problem, when i go to recovery mode and try to clean the Dalvik cache it doesn't do it ( no message is shown)! Any suggestions?! Before i install cm12 i wipe date/wipe cahe/wipe Dalvik cache, but now i cannot run it! I read that the Dalvik cache can be cleared manually with app, but root access is needed. On cm11 my phone was rooted but when i install cm12 i lose root access. How can i recover it back? Some ideas!

Kind regards,

The way to clear the dalvik cache is via recovery. Of course since CM12 is Lollipop it shouldn't actually be using dalvik, but ART still uses .dex files in /data/dalvik-cache, so that's a slightly pedantic distinction to make.

So the real question is, why is your recovery not clearing the cache? Do you need to update your recovery?

I've not used CM for a few years, but I believe you may need to enable root with the latest CMs. A quick web search turned up this link, which hopefully will solve that one: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/User:PsychoI3oy#Superuser_on_CyanogenMod_12.0
