Data Call Failure: Error Code 128

If you can get your MSL, ##3283# and do a data restore. If not they should be able to do it at your local Sprint store for you.

I recommend not doing any of those things if you live in the areas impacted by the Earthquake. I didn't have any data problems and then right after earthquake happened I had this same error popping up at least 30 times today. Within the last hour it went away. I tried battery pull, reset, restart. Nothing. Then after normal use it just now started working again within last two hours. I called up Sprint and they said that this was a contributing factor.

I don't live anywhere near the earthquake area and, strangely, got this message off and on today. It went away just a few hours later.

About a week ago I had *Network Error 128* no 3G. I did everthing you did except BP. Updating *Profile* fixed mine, or it just fixed itself at the same time I updated profile. :D

I live in Erie pa within a few hours of the earthquake area and I have an EVO 3d and my friend has an EVO 3d to and we are both getting this message like no joke atleast 100 times if not more does anyone have any info on this!? We haven't called Sprint yet but iv done profile update prl etc... And still pops up!?!? :( :( :( :(

I'm in Texas and I've had this problem all afternoon. Just as I got a text that the earthquake happened. Lasted all afternoon and early evening.

Happened to my 3D a few weeks after i got it.
Took it into a store and he told me he did a data reset on it and it worked just fine. ##3283# and make sure you have your MSL number.
If that doesnt fix it call care or go to a store.

Ironically, I kept my data after the earthquake. I was posting on facebook, but couldn't make a call.

How do you do a data reset? I have my MSL number. I went to the edit screen. Where is the option to reset the data?

Not sure if its related, but my phone will not call customer service. It keeps saying that the network is busy.

About once a month I get some type of error code, though I can't remember what number it is. I lose the abililty to make calls or use any kind of data. Solution that works for me is I go on the internet from a desktop or dial *2 and pay my bill. AMAZINGLY everything starts to work again flawlessly........Wierd........But don't know if this may be the solution to your problem. It works for me thougjh. :D

moved to sprint forum as some other handsets have had this issue.

i had it yesterday but as far as i was able to ascertain, i had data working. i was on 4G a few times when travelling and even though the code showed up i was still able to make calls, get online, etc etc.

next time hit *2 and see what the status on the screen says....

today no error.

I get the 128 error code on my Photon. But it's only been happening since about the last week of September and it is intermittent. When it happens, it never lasts for very long - maybe a minute at most.

Not really able to pin down when/where/why. Seems to happen most often at home, which is at the edge of 3G coverage. It also seems to happen when I turn on the phone (not reboot, just turn it on to make a call, surf, email, etc.).

As far as I know, it hasn't affected my getting any calls, but it is annoying. Never had it on the EVO, and it didn't happen at all the first week or two on the Photon. So I'm wondering if something got updated on Sprint's side of things that's caused the issue. I vaguely recall (so maybe incorrectly) a market update around the time this started. May not be related, but it kind of sticks in my mind.

I have a friend at work that has the exact same phone (EVO 3D) I called the *2 & *4 got the network busy message and then I tried his right after and his connected without problem.
