Data cap occasionally deactivated temporarily?

I have a Virgin Mobile $35 plan for unlimited data. Well, since this is the only way I can get internet in my current predicament, I usually get throttled within a week of starting a new month.

What's strange is for the past few months, usually a few days or longer after I get throttled, suddenly I am no longer throttled. It usually happens around 2am and will only last for half a day up to a day. Of course when that happens, I go on a download rampage :D

Maybe it has something to do with IPs? One time I reset my phone and the data throttle was back on. I notice the IP changes when I reset my phone.

Has anyone had this happen? If it is the IP, can I just reset my phone until I find an IP that isn't throttled?

Thanks.

Sounds more like flows in your specific gsm tower you are connected to hardware configuration where it might be a data pip line not following rules . I learnt that from a friend in the field though not sure about the exact terms . you can't exploit it and no mean to specifically connect to such data pipe line as its gsm hardware side to distribute connection loads . so bottom line its random

I've had this happen to me to on the few occasions that I have been throttled although for me it was at random times during the day. I noticed it mainly when I was moving from place to place in the car and not at a specific time.

Well, I guess they fixed that since I haven't had this happen to me in a few months. Always seemed like it was when I had my hotspot activated and another wireless device tethered.

I usually get about 12-15 kB/sec after throttling, which pretty much makes any kind of video impossible to watch. YT will time out a lot and netflix...no way on that one. Oh well.
