Help Data Loss – Involuntary Factory Reset?

Carin11

Lurker
Hello,
I need some help with my Galaxy A3 (not rooted, recent software). When I unplugged my phone from my charger this morning, it wanted me to enter the PIN for the SIM. I was still a bit sleepy and so I put in the code to unlock it, because I didn't switch it off, and thus wasn't expecting it asking for the PIN. To my surprise, the device then went on to delete the phone – I think it performed a factory reset. I have no idea, what happend.

1. Do you have any idea how this could happen?
2. Do I have a chance to restore my data. As far as I know, I unfortunately don't have a recent backup. o_O

Thank you in advance!

So the situation does sound odd. It does not make sense that a Factory Reset was being performed. Please give details on just what happens when you restart your A3. Is it booting up normally, and your data and installed apps are gone? Or is it asking for a Google account log in?
