data plan estimates?

I am just curious, does anyone know how much data can be used just sporadically checking your facebook account on your phone? The reason I'm asking is because when I ordered my droid incredible phone, I just went with the $15 150MB data plan. I really won't be using the phone much for checking mail unless I absolutely need to, and etc. I'm usually home a lot anyways, and have a PC that I can get on to check my mail and what not.

So I was just basically curious if I were to jump on my phone to kind of scan through my facebook and that's about it, how much per-say it would use of the data plan.. I hope what I am asking makes sense?

I am 17 days into my billing cycle and I am currently at 500MB of usage and I don't feel am a heavy user in the least. If I were you I would watch your usage very, very close the first month to avoid the very cost punitive overages Verizon wireless loves so much, and then use that information to reconsider your plan.

I got my two sones both Allys and started out with the $15 data package. one week in, they both had over 40 mb usage and they were home on wifi almost the whole time. venturing out of range for very short periods. (we went ahead and bumped them to unlimited data) If you go the $15 route, like the previous poster said watch VERY closely. use the #DATA and it will text you your current data accumulation. the MY VERIZON app is good, just a little slow to update. good luck.

Okay, thanks guys. I will have to definitely keep an eye on that. I would definitely hate to have to add another $15 to the bill, but I would definitely hate even more to pay overage fees as well.

Thanks again everyone.... If anyone has anymore to say about data usage, please post. Thanks! :)

Yeah, I think I am going to plan on using facebook when I get the phone. Basically do what I would normally do.. Get on check for any messages, and then get off. Then I am going to jump online, and see how much data it uses when I do that sort of thing.

Like I stated before, I probably won't use it at all for email. I can use the PC for that. But yeah, it's always a good thing to know how much data something uses and what not.

Thanks everyone. :)

My wife is a very light user (Facebook, light websurfing, GMail, Google Maps) and averages 400Mb/month. I have no idea how anyone is going to stay under 150Mb with an Android phone.

Yeah, but the only thing I plan on using on the phone is basically the facebook and that is mainly about it unless I ABSOLUTELY needed to use anything else.

I noticed, phone updates (OTA updates) uses data huh? Does anyone know how often the phone tends to do updates lets say a month? Just curious because the first update after turning on the phone and what not that happened on my phone was like 17MB in size which I'm sure used up my data stuff. lol

your better off the get the unlimited, its only $15 a month more, they are betting on you going over and racking up the carges

I will do it when and if I absolutely need to. I really do not have the money to rack up the bill even more if that makes sense.

when you get the phone, turn off 3g and only turn it on when youre using facebook. at least that way you can sort of manage it. good luck!
