Data recovery after failed Android update

I am trying to recover pictures from an AT&T LG G4 (H810) that powers on, gets past the LG boot screen, takes a long time (~5 min) apparently doing an Android update (white screen with AT&T logo), then updates 30 (of 30) apps, then loops back to the white AT&T logo screen, repeating indefinitely (at least 30 times that I have had the patience to witness). I have tried freezing the phone and blow-drying the chip on the motherboard, no result. I can get to the Factory Reset menu (Vol Down/Power) but do not wish to lose the data. I cannot get to the typical Android menu to Clear Cache (no menu at all is displayed by Vol Up/Power). Holding all three buttons for any length of time only shows a screen depicting the device's IMEI, including a bar code. I have used the procedure to start Safe Mode, makes no difference. *All I want is the pictures*, as I'm all done with the phone. No backups exist.

Most, if not all, recovery tools are useless. Were the pictures on an SD Card or the internal memory?

Have you tried logging in to Google Photos to see if the pics are backed up there?

Even if there was a recovery tool that worked, you need the phone to be working sufficiently to let it access the storage. So if it won't boot into Android there's really nothing you can do yourself (unless you are prepared to pay serious money for the sort of recovery service that law enforcement might use).

If photos were on a removable card then of course no problem, just remove it. But I assume from the measures you've taken that the photos are on internal storage.

The bootlooping was a common issue with the G4, there was a tool which allowed you to disable some of the CPU cores which would allow the phone to boot. I think you needed root though. Are you rooted?

Great idea, but no, this phone is not rooted. I could root it now (I do have the ability to boot into the state that allows an OS update), but doing so would wipe the phone without allowing me to save my pictures.

Isn't there an app to pull old pix by changing the file type?there is a possibility if you don't use note programs.
