Data recovery from busted screen

Have an s5 active with a now busted screen. How do i recover.data not saved to sd card? Have the otg card reader and have got the phone to show up on tv...but cant get the 2.0 mouse pointer to.show.up on tv.screen so.i can unlock the screen as seen in a you tube video with identical setup. Any help is appreciatted.

Or is there an easier way to.recover date? Any help is greatley appreciatted.

What type of screen lock do you have? I've unlocked a phone with a PIN using a keyboard and OTG adapter (required use of cursor keys), never tried with a pattern though.

Trial and error might get you there, but using a mouse blind isn't easy (I had to do it for some bits with the phone I mention above, and it was very easy to overshoot).

It is just swipe to unlock. The digitizer is trashed and off the phone now...can still see the screen on my tv when plugged in.

Can you cast to the screen without using the USB socket? If you can trial and error will be easier.

If you have another phone you can practise on with a working display that may help. That's what I did to get a feel for what I had to do to unlock before trying it blind.
