Data while roaming in Canada

I am a currently unhappy AT&T user considering switching to Verizon. I am looking at getting USA+Canada plan, plus the $30 data plan for Droid-X2. I travel to Canada a few times a year and was wondering how data is handled while roaming in Canada.

I have called Verizon's new customer information line 3 times and have gotten 3 different answers. The first time I was told that I need to get an international data plan, $50/month for 5GB or a few other price options for more/less data. On the next call, the next time the person said that that plan was only available on "Global Phones" and hence not available on Droid-X2 and I would have to pay $2.05 per Meg. The third time the person said that in the USA+Canada plan Canada was treated just like the USA in all respects and that included calling, roaming, text and data.

For people that are on the USA+Canada plan and travel to Canada, what are your actual experiences?

After this much confusion, I am seriously considering staying with AT&T -- it is the devil I know.

Canada is billed as follows: 75 megabytes for $30, 200 megabytes for $100. Overages start $2.04 per megabyte. I'd stick to WiFi.

Thanks for the info.

Is that your actual recent experience?

Unfortunately Wifi does not work for Navigator and for getting info while on the road. Besides, where there is Wifi, there is my laptop and the phone is not needed, data plan or not.
