It's hard to believe that it's been three years, today, since David Bowie died. I was shocked at the time because I'd had no idea he was ill (which is how he wanted it), plus he was still so young (by today's standards), having just turned 69 two days earlier.
Instead of being sad about it today, I watched numerous videos and celebrated his life and his contribution to the arts. I'm particularly, perhaps peculiarly, fond of his Ziggy Stardust era, and made it a point to watch his Starman video.
Then, for good measure, I watched him and the incomparable Freddie Mercury sing Under Pressure. Two of my all-time favorites--who are undoubtedly having a grand old time now, hanging out with John Lennon, Marc Bolan, perhaps Elvis, laughing, singing, making music in their new world.
"Look up here...I'm in heaven."
