Deactivating Phone???

So, I'm getting ready to sell my old Blackberry Curve, but I don't know what I should do about deactivating it before I sell it I won't have my new phone till after I sell this one. Also when I buy my new phone from Best Buy I have to use my mother in laws upgrade, so will Best Buy activate it with my number and just extend my mil's contract or what do i have to do there?

I've done exactly this before with Verizon (using another phone's upgrade etc.) but it matters a lot what service you have and what service you will be switching to, if any. Sprint? Verizon? T-Mobile?

I don't have any experience with Sprint but I would suspect that you have to:

- Call Sprint's customer service to deactivate your phone (the blackberry)

- Sell the phone (blackberry)

- Use your mother in law's upgrade to get a new phone on her account

- Call Sprint's customer service to transfer the new phone (the one you bought) to your account (if you are on a family plan this will be easier, if not you will have to deactivate her phone and then activate it on your account)

- Call Sprint's customer service and transfer the old phone (the one your mother in law had before) back to your mother in law's account

You'll spend a lot of time on the phone or with a Customer Service representative but in the end it should work. They get a little unhappy that you're taking advantage of their new phone policy but they'll do it regardless.
