Correct, prepaid plans require you to buy the phone outright rather than through their financing plan.

To use the financing plan, you have to be on any of their postpaid plans. Prepaid plans will force you to buy full retail outright.

I bought mine Friday and paid cash.

I am on the prepaid plan too, I will never be tied down to another 2 year plan again.

Now, if only DISH would come up with a pre-paid no contract plan.
