DebtDroid Application Safe?

Reverence

Android Enthusiast
I just recently downloaded an application from the Market called DebtDroid so I can log who owes me money and who I owe money too. After I downloaded the app I read the thread stickied in this board about what the different application permissions mean and it got me a little worried.

I was looking over the application permissions for it and they include:
Your Location (coarse location)
Your personal Information (contact data)
Network communication (full internet access)
Phone Calls (read phone state and identity)
Hardware Controls (control vibrator)

I understand why it needs the access to my personal information and hardware controls because it allows for a notification feature which I'm sure uses the vibrate, and it also allows me to select people from my contact list which is why it needs my personal information.

However, I am wondering why it needs my location, my phone calls, and network communication with full internet access...is this normal?
It has ads in the actual application, so is that why it needs full internet access?

I'm thinking I should probably remove this app, but I was just wondering if all this is normal for future reference. Also, if this is a "malware/adware" application, are there any signs I should look for? And would uninstalling the application get rid of the malicious code or is there something else I'd have to do?

Seeing as no one answered my thread, I e-mailed the creator myself and he explained all the permissions to me in case anyone was wondering for future reference:

Hi,
it is because of embedded AdMob advertisment system. Each time you launch the DebtDroid, the application requests and displays advertisement data (if there are any). You can check it by browsing the application log.

READ_PHONE_STATE and VIBRATE enables alarm notification. READ_CONTACTS enables picking contacts from your contact list.

thanks for interest
