Decent Text file or note app?

For years I used ANotepad, but when I hook up my sync cable to get files I can't always find them. On top of that, I don't know if it is Android's latest software update or wha (4.4.2 on my device which is a Razr MAXX, but I can no longer save the files to the SD card like I used to be able to. This defeats the purpose of even having the ap. I need to be able to save stuff to my SD card.

I tried Colornote and it worked okay, but I am still unable to find the files on my pc when I have my phone synced. I recently did a hard reset and I saved everything I could find out of the Colornote files on my pc, but when I reinstalled Colornote after the reset and placed the files in the folder, I still can't see them.

This is stupid. I even tried placing a regular text file in my downloads folder on my sd card, and then opening and editing with ES file explorer, but I can't save it. What kind of BS??

What would be awesome is something that creates text files just like the notepad program in windows. I have countless .txt files I have created when taking notes about things..just open up notepad and save whatever I type. I need to be able to move those files from my phone to my pc and vise versa.

Any recommendations?

What about Google Drive/Google Docs?
Another app I've used in the past was Note Everything.

Although saving notes to the SD card may not be possible anymore, I could be wrong

I've used SimpleNote and it does sync between PC and Android with no issues .. not sure if it's exactly what your looking for but worth a try
