Help Default Dialler question

Android Enthusiast
Well i live in the UK with a Vodafone handset and just upgraded OTA, before the update when using the dialer and selecting a contact then selecting the number would usually dial straight away. After the update when i select the contact and select the number i want to dial what it does now is take it to the number screen with the number on thus slowing down the call process and making me put it towards my ear and pressing random numbers before realizing that i haven't even made the call yet. Is there anyway to fix it to how it was before?

Thanks.

In phone book, if you long press on a contact, it gives you an option list 'call number' being one of them. Does this help?

I also use gesture search (free from market) you draw with your finger the first letter, then another if you need to narrow it down further. It then gives you a telephone to press to make a call or press the name to access the full contact details.

Yeah i suppose it helped thanks :)

There's an apk called quick dial that I use that has 12 spots for favourite number then its just one tap to call.

Try Contact Widget ABC Dialer Light.

The free version gives you a contacts widget that you can place 6 contacts (12 when paid for) with pictures in and its one press to call the contact, it also give info on missed calls and texts and also comes with an app to use as a dialer that works similar to the above app in terms of searching not the gesture writing , but the free app only lets you add the first letter of the contact your looking for but once found it is just one press and your calling them and the paid app is only 69cents and is well worth it.

I have not used my stock dialer or contacts/phone book since I got the paid app

U could also use the stock option,
Long press on home screen
Select Shortcut
and add direct dial then select contact..
Sorted
this allows to you to One press dial, without any Extra 3rd party app's

Hope that Helps

i have the same problem. it is so annoying. the xperia is the crappiest phone i have ever owned. one problem after another. roll on 16 months till upgrade. i advise everyone not to buy this phone it is crap

free app 2 presses(if you put widget on home screen) and you are calling you get a grid with around 30 spaces to add your frinds ,touch the square with who you want to call then away you go,i think you can add pictures to the number as well

I agree 100%! It's like SE have gone out of their way to make calling people difficult on this PHONE....low in call volume (assuming you can actually hear the phone ringing in the first place), slow method of calling people and a woeful battery life. Even the vibrate function which has been on mobile phones for 10 years is insufficient!

But wait they release a software update that doesnt address any of these problems but allows you to change the background colour of Timescape which nobody likes or uses. I will say it again...I want a mobile phone so I can make phone calls....if I want to play games I will buy a PS3 and if I want to listen to music I will buy an ipod. Can you imagine if Apple brought out an ipod that allowed you to make calls but couldnt play muisic properly? Oh wait they seem to have managed it...add features while allowing its core functionality to still work.....just a shame SE couldnt do the same!

You're right about the ring volume, I don't find that bad and I haven't had a problem with vibrate but... It's an Android phone! If you don't like the default dialling method just get an app to do it the way you want to, I've had SE's before and they had the best dialers I think this is more down to Android but like I said and many others have pointed out you can just change it. As for battery it's a smart phone with a 1ghz processor in

Try any cut, its an app that let's u shortcut anything to your homepage then its just one click, I've got one of my screens just for calling and txting shortcuts pretty handy like
