Help Default Keyboard regularly reverts back to Samsung Keyboard but I want to use Google Keyboard

Hi

Just last week I purchased a new Galaxy S6 I love it but I have noticed one small, but quite annoying problem with it...............

I prefer to use the Google Keyboard so downloaded the latest version of the keyboard from the Google Play Store however I've noticed when I go into the Language & Input settings the default keyboard regularly reverts back to the standard Samsung Keyboard even though I have previously changed the settings to set the Google one as the default.

Has anyone else had this problem and know of a fix or is it a known problem with the device?

I previously had the S4 and had no such issue. I've contacted Samsung about it but they weren't very helpful

I'm running Android version 5.1.1

Thanks in advance
Tim.

I had run into this too - also the little keyboard icon that showed up anytime the keyboard was being used kept bothering me. I got around it by disabling the stock keyboard entirely using Package Disabler Pro. Definitely worth the couple bucks from to easily disable this and a bunch other Samsung bloat.

Thanks for your help with this. I've just looked up the app on Google Play It sounds good. I just want to check before installing it that it is safe to use as my S6 is brand new. You haven't had any problems using other features on your phone since using the app?

Thanks

No, no problems using other features. You just need to be aware of what's being disabled, and if you're not sure what it does then don't disable it. On the off chance I disabled something I actually want to use, I can easily reenable it and be on my way.

I tried the app last night and it works great! I like the fact that it's taken the stock Samsung Keyboard completely out of my list of apps and the only option to use is the Google Keyboard, exactly what I wanted! I haven't cancelled any other apps as I'm not sure what they do so I'm just going to leave them well alone. Thanks for all your help, I wouldn't have known about this app otherwise :-)
