Lurker
With a Samsung Note 2 running Android 4.1.2 on TMobile when I click on a .txt file, an unknown edit program runs showing me the file's contents. Although I can scroll through the file, I cannot do a search or get help on the program. I have no way of ascertaining the name of the program or its creator. When I install other text editor programs, the only way I can get them to edit my .txt file is to open it from within their program. Simply clicking on the .txt file takes me to the original undesired program.

Is there any way to discover what program it is that needs to be uninstalled or at least remove it from the .txt file association default?

Enter your device settings, select apps.

Menu/List and select Reset app preferences.

You cant disable an association on an app by app basis, just flush the whole thing. You will need to assign default browser and what not all over again but it should take care of your issue.
