Where can I find a listing of the default Root Certificates that are pre-loaded on Android smartphones and tablets?

And, does anyone know how you go about requesting the addition of a new Root Certificate to the default installation?

I have been able to find a lot of posts on how to add certs to individual device trust stores but none about which roots are included by default (pre-installed) or how to add more to the default.

I'm asking the same thing. Why am I not seeing any answers to an obvious question?

If you Google for 'add a new root certificate in android' there are several links. Be aware that the process requires your phone to be rooted.
