Defense: TB or Philly?

Hey all,

I've got Tampa Bay as well as Philly for defensive options in week 11. TB is expected to get me 30 points against San Francisco, where as Philly is expected to get 28 against New York Giants. I currently have TB in my starting lineup as SF is much worse at offense than the NYG's are, but I like Philly's D better than TB.

What would you do?

Philly D is desean and vick scoring tons of TDs. Go with tampa.

There aren't any better options? TB sucks and the Giants are too good on offense especially after being embarrased by the Cowgirls. I know San Fran sucks on offense but TB's secondary is horrible

Good point. I can put in a waiver to drop TB for Arizona, who are playing the Chiefs. They aren't great overall, but put up good fantasy numbers.

SHould I go through with it?

NYG are also available.

nyg D is available...? I would pick them up and just not play them this week.. How are they FA and the best of the rest of your options are AZ and TB? lol Miami would not be a bad pick up, your basically like assured 3 INTs. =(

NYG D is the best in the league, but they're not that great for fantasy owners. They average the predicted points or less every week. Arizona on the other hand has over 50% of their games +10 points on predicted (so, 35+ total points) and a couple of 50+ point games thrown in as well. I think Arizona has better fantasy potential than NYG do.

ANybody else agree?

Predicted points mean nothing. With that train of thought your basically saying its better to play Troy Smith over Drew brees (minus any match up talk) cause Brees is under preforming this year while Smith is netting more then yahoos shitty predictions.

AZ are also giving up tons of points.. so you get basically nothing on keeping the team to low scores... The only reason they are even considered an option is their blocked kicks are leading to defensive TDs.. Its not necessarily a bad option to go with AZ but it is not so much the safe one. Giant D is only about 15 overall fantasy points below AZ totals with ZERO tds. If you actually think AZ can keep it up I would go for it.. I think they fall way off esp with the state the NFC west is in.

Of course I don't base my decisions on predicted points, do you really think I'm that ignorant? With that train of thought I would have never picked up Jacob Tamme or Marcedes Lewis.

My point was, Arizona's D has consistently produced more points than the NYG D has over the season. Sure, they've both had a couple of games with less than 15 points, but on average Arizona is over 30 and NYG is just over 25 points per game. With the actual fantasy points earned per game, how is Arizona not a better choice than NYG?

I'm thinking about trading Philly for NYG though, as Philly isn't making the big plays they used to at the beginning of the season (minus week 10's run back for a TD, of course)

Not trying to be like that at all. But your the one that was saying AZ scores more then their projected while Giants fall short as an incentive that AZ is better option then Giants.

Again AZ is not a BAD option. But overtime and consistency the Giants are more then likely the better option in the long run.
