Help Defy earpiece failure, still in warranty but I have no proof of purchase - can I send it in?

I haven't seen any new threads on the earpiece failures recently, so I need to know..

I bought my Defy from eBay, and a little while later the earpiece problem arose. I checked with Motorola and it's still in warranty (I only have about 2 weeks left) - my question is, can I send it in without having a proof of purchase and get this repaired? If so, what do I need to do to it - if it's currently only rooted ?

Thanks!!

Matt

Would think so yes. They're still fairly new & it's a common fault on many Defys. You could google for your nearest moto service centre, for me it was Carphonewarehouse, so you might find a similar chain that has repair facilities.

Did you root it yourself? I would unroot by any various methods you can google (maybe latest superoneclick can unroot, can't remember), or if you're familiar with RSD Lite you could flash an original rom, this removes root. You may need to unroot as it voids warranty, they may or may not fix it for you FOC if they find root.
