Delay in prompt to close apps

I have switched from a Blackberry Android to Picel 2 XL. The one difference that I cannot solve, is the delay in the X prompt on the Pixel 2 XL, when I am trying to close the apps. I press on the square button at the screen, the app window becomes resized (smaller). At this moment the X in the top right of the app window should be displayed (at least that is what the Blackberry Android presents). On the Pixel 2 XL, I have to wait for a few seconds for the X to display. Only then I can close the app. Is there a setting that would allow me to speed up the prompt of the X?

Swipe the app away - you don't have to wait for the button to do that.

In any case that little X button is gone in Android 9, so you may as well get used to swiping instead.

Try minimizing the animation options (there are three of them) in your phone's Developer Options menu. See link below:

I've set mine down to 0.5x and there's quite difference if, just as an experiment, you try them set at 2x or 5x.
